It is almost a year since South Africa’s first COVID-19 lockdown was implemented at midnight on the 26th of March 2020. Nearly a year later we remain in a “State of Emergency” and still subject to lockdown restrictions, albeit Alert Level 1. I hope that you and your families have managed to stay safe and healthy during these unprecedented times and for those of you who have lost loved ones, my deepest condolences to you.
It is during these tough times when one’s spirits are understandably low that the smallest act of kindness or generosity can mean so much. I experienced one such occasion recently. I received an email from someone looking for a job and it read as follows:
“I realize this must be a random email, and probably at a random time, but somehow Urban Farmer has always been on my mind since we first connected a few years ago, and thus I am taking a chance…I am contacting you to find out if there are perhaps any job opportunities available in your company for someone with my skill set?…I am looking for a job that allows me to do more of what I love.”
The satisfaction for me in receiving this email came from the realisation that over the years we have managed to build a company, and a brand, with an identity that people can relate to, and a purpose that resonates with them. The individual in question is a well-recognised and respected member of our industry which makes their sentiments all the more complimentary and encouraging under our current circumstances.
Whether you are a customer, a supplier, or an employee I am grateful that you have chosen Urban Farmer and I remain committed to serving you.
