Steven Payne and Kelvin Pieterse were privileged to join other private and public sector stakeholders at the Poultry Futures Forum hosted in Dar es Salaam on the 16th and 17th of October 2024. The Forum was convened by the Government of Tanzania, the Food Action Alliance, and AGRA with the aim to unlock the poultry industry’s potential as a critical driver of food security, economic development, and employment in the SADC region.

Steven was responsible for introducing and moderating a panel session around Inclusive Business Models. The session showcased examples where these models are enabling inclusion of youth and women in the poultry sector, improving productivity, and ultimately making chicken and eggs more affordable and more accessible.

Steven will continue to drive the agenda for food security and employment in the region as a member of the recently formed steering committ ee of the Southern African Poultry Initiative.
