Aquaculture holds huge potential in Africa. By introducing novel ingredients to the fish feed industry Urban Farmer hopes to assist farmers to improve their production efficiencies and outputs and meet the dramatic shortfall in fish production on the continent.

In February 2020 Urban Farmer facilitated a series of meetings in Kenya between Diana Aqua, one of the world’s leading ingredient suppliers to the aqua feed industry, and the local Kenyan feed manufacturers.

The visit culminated in a tour of a fish farm in Machakos, Kenya. While the industry in Kenya, and the rest of Africa, still has a long way to go identifying such “pockets of excellence” left the Urban Farmer and Diana team members encouraged that the industry is on the right track.
