Congratulations to Michelle Marais on winning the Women’s Insight Deliberation Competition. The competition seeks to create a platform for women to discuss agricultural related issues and ultimately influence public and industry discussions.

Michelle’s insight and deliberation skills have already been put to good use in her new role as the Project Coordinator for U-MIX. U-MIX (www.u-mix.co.za) is Urban Farmer’s combined product and service solution for smallholder farmers enabling them to produce their own poultry and livestock feed. Michelle has been responsible for the successful roll-out of U-MIX in Zambia, Uganda and Zimbabwe and has been instrumental in developing the U-MIX training material and the facilitation of the U-MIX training engagements that have been hosted to date. Under Michelle’s stewardship U-MIX is set to make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of smallholder farmers in years to come.
